Ms Melville Poet essay

Phonemenal Women is a great poem because to me it is not only deep but inspiring in way not only making me but other females not feel as if they have to act or look a certain way to be noticed or to be somebody. To me this poem is about learning how to carry yourself and be who you are and not what other see you as.

The sound of this poem to me has both aliliteration and repitition. The reason why i feel this poem has repition is because in this poem it it repeats the sound as well as a few words. For instance, "Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. Im not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size". this poem has repition because it is repeating a the sound of the poem not so much of a word or phrase. Another poem that this poem has is alliteration because it has the same sound in not all of the lines but in a few for example, "it's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need of my care, 'cause i'm a woman phonomenally phenomenal women that's me".

The two images that i see in this poem are seeing and hearing. As i read this poem I can pretty much picture wat she is talkin about because she gives a clear picture, for example, "it's the arch of my back, The sun of my smile, The ride of my breast, The grace of my style. Im a women. What i see in that poem is that she is explaining who she is and the way that sees herself. The next image that i see is how she says that she does not have to be loud in order to bring attention to herself, i hear that she's saying that she is not loud and that she can be noticed by being herself.

This poem has both a similie and a metaphor. The similie that i see in this poem is the th one where she talks about the bees, "I walk into the rooom just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, Ahive of honey bees. This poem has a similie because it does use like or as. A metaphor that i see in this poem is the part when she talks about the fire in her eyes and the sun in her smile, meaning that she is explaining how bright her smile if and how bright her eyes are.

Maya's Angeloues poem talks about how you dont have to what other people want to see has to be liked or known, and that jus being yourself you can make you jus a good as anybody else. I picked this poem "Phenomonal Woman" because it is a great poem as well as it is inspiring.

Reflection about the election

The way that i felt about barack Obama winning this election was a great election. The reason why this was an amazing election was because we have finally made history in america by electing our first black president. I am very thankful for being able to be a part of all of this ecspecially as being a young black woman to experience all this, knowing that we as black people never ecspecially during civil rights and the fact that black people had to fight for there rights would have thought that we would have a black president. Now we finally have a positive african american running this country. I know that he will get this country back on track from the past eight years. Im looking forward in the future to see accomplish all of these heardles he has ahead of him

MS. Melville 5 final copy

Although "Animal Farm" appears to be a simple book about animals, in reality "Animal Farm is a satire of the Russian Revolution. Not everything that you hear is always the truth. In "Animal Farm the way character's respond to the stories has a strong connection on their ability to survive.

The first character by the name of Squealer is the one who twists stories. A perfect example is the issue with the beds he says "you have heard then, comrades," he said "that we pigs now sleep in the beds of the farmhouse? And why not allowed for animals to sleep in the beds because it was against the rules. Another story was the incident when the milk and apples were stolen. The story was that the pigs had stolen them, becuase they needed it to do brainwork. The last story was about Boxer's death Squealer told everyone that he was sold, and had died in the hospital. Since Squealer twists so many stories he ends up rich and famous because he is able to master the stories.

Benjamin on the other hand does not get wrapped up in the debates and the stories. The reason for this is because he does believe everything that he is told. Since he is older and has been around longer he knows better. When the windmill is wrecked everyone ecspecially Napolean blames Snowball who is no longer on farm. except for Benjamin because from his point of view it would have been impossible for a little pig to have done so much damage to the windmill. The story of boxer's death is unbelievable to Benjamin. The reason for this is becuase he heard that boxer was suppose to be taken to the hospital, but sense he could read he read the sign on the wagon that was taking Boxer to the slaughter house, which means that he does believe the story about Boxer's death. Since Benjamin does not believe everything that he is told he is able to survive because he knows better.

Boxer is one of the animals who believes everything that he is told. One of the stories were animals being killed. He questioned it when Squealer questioned and pursuaded them that the story of the animals being killed true. Boxer also thought that Napolean was always right. Boxer figured that since Snowball was now charge everything he said was right. Since Snowball wasn't there to there to tell him the truth he figured Napolean was always telling the truth. In the end Boxer dies, he is sent to the slaughter house.

This book is a perfect example of when people are not educated enough how they are not able to see through the lies that are being told.

Ms. Melville rough draft for Animal Farm

In "Animal Farm" the way character's respond to the stories has a stong impact on their ability to survive. The first character by the name of squealer is the one who twists stories. A perfect example is the issue with the beds, he say's "you have heard then, comrades" he said "that we pigs now sleep in the beds of the farmhouse? And why not? You did not suppose , surley, that there was ever a ruling against beds? a bed , properly regarded. The thing was that it was not allowed for the animals to sleep in the beds because it was against the rules. Another issue was the incident when the milk and apples were stolen. The pigs had stole them. The story was that they needed it to do brain work. The last story was about boxer's death. Squealer told everyone that he was sold, and that he had died in the hospital. Since Squealer twist stories so much he became rich and powerful becuase he able to master the stories.

Benjamin on the other hand does not get wrapped up in the dabates and stories. The reason for this is becuase he does not believe everything he is told. Since he is older he does not believe it all because he know's better. When the windmill is wrecked everyone ecspecially Napolean blames snowball who is no longer on the farm, except Benjamin becuase from his point of view it would have been impossible for a little pig to damage the windmill. The story about Boxer's death is unbelievable to Benjamin. The reason for this is that he heard that Boxer was at the hospital and died their. Since Benjamin was able to read he was able to read the sign on the wagon on which was actually taking Boxer to the slaughter house, which means that he did not believe the story being told about boxer's death. Benjamin is able to survive because he does not believe everything that he is told.

Boxer is one of the animals who believes all stories. One of the stories is the animals were killed. He questioned it when squealer questioned and pursuaded them that the story of the animals being killed true. Boxer also thought that Napolean was always right. Boxer figured that since he was now in charge and since Snowball wasn't there to tell him the truth he figured Napolean was alway's telling the truth. In the end Boxer dies he his sent to the sluaghter house.

Ms. Melville Animal Farm paragraph 10-22-08

In "Animal Farm" the animals accept Napolean's lies for many reasons. The first reason is that now that he was now in charge every was suppose to believe that all of what he said was true. Napolean wanted to have his own way, and all of the animals do what he wants. The animals also just believed him becuase the knew ni better, just that everything he said was to be true. The second reason is when the storm came and wrecked the windmill. After the windmill was wrecked Napolean started blaming Snowball for this crime. He said "comrades" do you know who is responsible for this, do you know who is the enemy who came in the night. The final reason is that the animals have no choice but to believe his lies. The reason for this is becuase Snowball wasn't there to tell them the truth. As well as the animals not being all that smart and could not tell whether or not Napolean was telling the truth. In conclusion these are of the reasons why the animals accept Napolean's lies.

1st annotation Oct #3

The first cited information on my nhd person in which changed to Nat Turner was from the internet. I went to a site called "Africans in America/part 3/ Nat Turner's Rebellion. This site was helpful for me in so many ways, it gave Alot of infomoration that i needed. The research is a secondary resorce, becuase it was written about him by someone else, but at the same time it was facts about him and his life as well as the rebellion. This information was to inform the reader's who want to learn or find out more on Nat Turner.

Ms. Melville Liberty or Equality paragraph

Saffronia Robinson

Zaroff Paragraph
In the Story "The Most Dangerous Game" I have learned that Zaroff values liberty more than equality because of these three reasons. One is that he enjoys hunting, not just animals but humans as well. The reason why he enjoys hunting humans is because hunting animals to him is no longer fun even though he has hunted everything  from the Cape Buffalo to tigers it has become boring to him. On the other hand hunting humans is more fun to him because he likes the excitment and the thrill of it all. Not only is it exciting to him but he also believes that those who are not strong and are "scums of the earth" are not important in his eyes and he goes out to hunt them for his own enjoyment.

Blog #1 and #2 Obama for President

I feel Obama would make a better president for many reasons. For example he is a good role model he, thinks more about peoples needs. Most importantly he wants to fix what the republicans messed upon in the past years.
